Abstract

Sunscreen (sunblock) is a product that that can keep the skin from sun exposure. Some natural ingredients that can be used as sunscreen include seaweed and kencur. This research was conducted to see the physical stability of the formulation of sunscreen cream preparations of seaweed extract and kencur. By evaluating physical properties which include organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, dispersion, and adhesion. Physical stability tests were carried out for 12 days for 6 cycles at room temperature (<25°C). The seaweed extract cream preparations (Gracilaria verrucosa) and kencur (Kaempferia galanga) can be tested for the stability of their physical properties. The result showed that the stability test of seaweed extract (Gracilaria verrucosa) and kencur (Kaempferia galanga) produced the best formula is in Formulation I.
