Abstract
Hypertension is a serious health problem that is characterized by an increase in blood pressure with a systolic value ≥ 140 mmHg and a diastolic value ≤ 90 mmHg. Knowledge about adherence to taking hypertension medication is important to support the success of hypertension therapy. This study aims to determine the relationship of knowledge of adherence to taking medication at the East Tegal Health Center. This type of research is descriptive. The tool used in this research is a questionnaire. Sampling was carried out by purposive sampling the number of respondents was 100 people who already had inclusion and exclusion criteria. The sample of this study was patients with hypertension at the chemical Puskesmas Tegal Timur. The questionnaire used the Guttment scale, while the data analysis used the univariate test. The criteria for the level of knowledge are good score 76%-100%, the level of knowledge is sufficient score 56%-76%, and the level of knowledge is not good score <56%. The results of this study are hypertension patients who had a sufficient knowledge level of 76 respondent (76%), patients who have a fairly good level adherence of 24 respondent (24%), and patients who have a poor level knowledge of 0 respondent (0%). The conclusion of this study is that the patient’s level of knowledge about the better the knowledge, the higher the level of adherence in taking hypertension medication.
