Abstract
Fajriyah, Ika Laelatul; Riyanta, Aldi Budi; Tivani, Inur; 2023. Formulation and Antibacterial Activity Test of Foot Spray Preparations with Combination of Kaffir Lime Peel Extract (Citrus hystrix Dc.) and Basil Leaves (Ocimum africanum L.) Kaffir lime peel (Citrus hystrix Dc.) is a part of the fruit that has biological activity as an antibacterial, antiviral and antioxidant. Basil leaves (Ocimum africanum L.) can be used as an antibacterial because they contain essential oil and tannin compounds which can be used as deodorizers. This study aimed to determine effect of different concentrations of antibacterial activity and to determine the best formulation for foot spray preparations. The study method was experiment. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling with extraction method using the maceration method. Foot spray preparations were made in three formulations with concentrations of kaffir lime peel extract and basil leaves of 20%, 25% and 30%. Data analysis included organoleptic tests, pH tests, clarity tests, and antibacterial activity tests using One Way Anova. The results of the study showed that the foot spray with of kaffir lime peel extract and basil leaves was in liquid form, brownish black in color, aromatic odor and feeling cool on the skin with a pH value of 3. The preparation appeared clear and had antibacterial activity with inhibition zones value for formulations I, II, and III namely 263,75 mm2, 256,70 mm2, and 300,3 mm2. The results of the Anova test obtained a significance value of 0,000 <0,05. In conclusion, there is different effect of concentrations of antibacterial activity on footspray preparation with kaffir lime extract and basil leaves and the best formulation was formulation III. Keywords: Kaffir Lime Peel, Basil Leaves, Foot spray, Staphylococcus Epidermidis
