Abstract

Phytochemical screening is an initial stage that can provide an overview of the content of certain compounds in the natural product to be studied. The aim of the study was to determine whether there is an effect of maceration time on the results of phytochemical screening and differences in maceration time on the highest yield value of Harum Manis mango leaves extract. The research method used experiments. The sampling technique used random sampling. The extract was dissolved in 70% ethanol using maceration method with a ratio of 1 day, 3 days and 5 days. Data analysis was qualitative test in the form of chemical screening test or thin layer chromatography (TLC) and a quantitative test in the form of UV-Vis spectrophotometry test. The results showed that there was not different effect in maceration time. Harum Manis mango leaves extract contained secondary metabolites such as saponins, flavonoids, tannins, triterpenoids, and alkaloids. And the results of the highest yield value were found in 3 days maceration of 21.67%. While the results of the quantitative test showed that levels of flavonoids in the Harum Manis mango leaves extract obtained the highest average value of 49.07% in 1 day maceration. It can be concluded that fragrant harum mango leaves extract has no effect on differences in maceration time and the best yield is 3 days of maceration.
